Injectable NAD+ is a compounded medication that you inject under your skin twice a week. It is designed to support energy, focus and recovery, but it is not a weight loss medication.
What it is
NAD+ stands for nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide. It is a coenzyme that your cells use to turn food into usable energy.
Injectable NAD+ may be used with a GLP-1 medication or as a standalone treatment. It is not a treatment for substance use disorder, withdrawal or detox. Human evidence for injectable NAD+ is limited and still emerging. Results vary.
How to take it
Inject NAD+ under your skin twice a week. Follow the directions on your current prescription label.
- Inject the medication slowly. Injecting too quickly is the most common cause of flushing, nausea and chest tightness.
- Rotate injection sites.
- Check the label on every new vial. The concentration can change between refills.
- If the label is unclear, inconsistent or damaged, do not inject. Ask your provider through the chat in the SkinnyRx app.
Your provider decides your dose and any medication changes. For general injection steps, see How do I take my injection?.
Storage
Keep the medication refrigerated at 36°F to 46°F. Do not freeze it. It can be at room temperature briefly while you prepare and give your injection.
For an unopened vial, follow the beyond-use date printed on the label. If you plan to start after that date, contact your care team before using it. See How do I store my medication? for more guidance.
