Alcohol can make nausea, vomiting, and dehydration worse during GLP-1 treatment. Some medications can also increase your risk of low blood sugar.
Alcohol
Alcohol may worsen common GLP-1 side effects. These include nausea, vomiting, and dehydration. If you have side effects that are bothersome or do not improve, contact your care team. You can also read What should I do if I have side effects?.
Other medications
Some medications may interact with GLP-1 treatment. The risk of low blood sugar may be higher if you use:
- Insulin
- Sulfonylureas
- Other diabetes treatments
Share your full medication list with your provider. This helps your provider check for possible interactions and keep your treatment safe. Do not change any medication on your own. Your provider decides whether a medication or dose should change.
Use the chat in the SkinnyRx app to ask your provider about alcohol or other medications. See How do I message my provider?.
