For GLP-1 treatments, common side effects are usually related to your stomach and digestion. They often improve as your body adjusts.
Common side effects
You may have:
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Constipation or diarrhea
- Bloating
- Feeling full more quickly
- Fatigue
Digestive side effects often occur during dose increases and tend to lessen over time. Nausea, constipation, or diarrhea may also occur when you first start treatment. Do not change your dose or medication on your own.
If a side effect bothers you, gets worse, or does not improve after a few days, contact your care team through the chat in the SkinnyRx app. Your provider can review your symptoms and decide on the safest next step. See What should I do if I have side effects?.
How severe is it?
- Mild: nausea, burping, constipation, diarrhea, bloating, heartburn, tiredness, a mild headache, or mild irritation where you inject. These usually improve with time.
- Moderate: trouble sleeping, stronger headaches, signs of low blood sugar (feeling shaky, sweaty or dizzy), or tiredness that does not go away. Contact your care team if these bother you.
- Severe: the symptoms listed under emergency care below. Stop taking your medication and get help right away.
